Avenica CEO Brian Weed was interviewed by SHRM (Society for Human Resource Management) for an article on how hiring managers’ unrealistic expectations for entry-level employees can lead to problems down the road.
While hiring managers might think entry-level employees aren’t prepared for the job, Weed says changing up hiring criteria could improve outcomes, encouraging them to focus on how they can develop and train candidates with transferable skills.
“Companies need to consider training and onboarding as part of the recruitment process,” Weed said. “Train the right candidate rather than hire the wrong-but-experienced candidate.”
